The establishment of the NORTHERN SWIMMING ACADEMY in partnership with Swimming WA and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries!

This is the first step in creating a high performance training environment for swimmers in the region.

In recent years we have seen swimmers take the world stage from Commonwealth Games to Olympic Games. The names on those rosters were bred from the regions. However, those numbers are declining, and we are seeing more and more swimmers leave the region to train in the metro areas. This is an opportunity to develop and provide the necessary resources for those swimmers to stay and train in their home environments and still reach their potential.

The Academy will focus heavily on the transition out of the age group swimmer pathway and into learning how to train. Swimmers will understand what it means to train with purpose, what separates the good from the great, the athlete- coach relationship, essential strength skills for optimal recovery and development and mental skills that will carry them to the next level.
